Mediation is a process whereby a neutral individual, or a team of two, help individuals resolve disputes. Mediators are trained to help parties reach agreement without promoting an adversarial position or increasing hostility. Mediation is a confidential process, unlike the courts, where the dispute becomes a matter of public record. In mediation the participants control the outcome of the dispute, not the judge or jury. Disputes are handled and resolved quickly, at the convenience of the parties. Mediators do not represent either party. They work impartially to gain an agreement satisfactory to both sides. Disputes are resolved without costly and time consuming litigation. Additionally, agreements negotiated in the spirit of fairness, often avoid escalating hard feelings and decrease the emotional toll of conflict. We offer co-mediation for divorcing or separating couples and for family business disputes. In co-mediation two mediators work together, for a single fee, to provide maximum time efficiency and to ensure that both parties have equal and adequate time to clarify their positions.
